We bought the plot for our guest house in 2016. An unfinished detached house from the 1970s was standing there. The house was unfit to live in, but we wanted to get as much of it back as we could.
We carefully disassembled all the wooden windows to convert them into mirrors. We made the mirrors ourselves as nobody would do it better.
We also found an unused parquet floor from the 1970s in the old house, kept in boxes in one of the rooms. We decided to use it in our interiors – out of respect for the environment and out of our passion for restoring old objects. We used the parquet floor on the wall of our reception desk, one of the lounge rooms and one bedroom. GMO Design also made tables and side tables for suites especially for us.
Next to the parquet floor, we found oak stair risers in one of the old rooms, which proved suitable for tables made for us by GMO Design.
Before construction began, we dug up a lot of plants from the plot, which we wanted to keep in the garden of our guest house. Moss in jars decorates the windows of our suites.
